The 18th IFAC Symposium on Control, Optimisation and Automation in Mining, Mineral and Metal Processing, MMM 2019 for short, is a conference hosted by the South African Council for Automation and Control (SACAC). MMM 2019 promotes the exchange of ideas and developments in control engineering in the MMM field.
The workshop will be hands-on with participants developing their own models and control solutions. Dani Winter (Application Engineer) and Jason Miskin (Consultant) for Opti-Num Solutions will be presenting three parts of the workshop. Participants must bring their own laptops, but will be provided with the necessary software.
On day one local industry and academic experts will introduce popular modern data analytics methods. Participants will then use these methods to infer a key performance measure of a simulated milling circuit.
On day two participants will be introduced to model predictive control (MPC). They will use their inferred performance measure to implement an MPC controller to stabilise and (or) optimise the milling circuit.
The workshop will be arranged such that participants can attend only day 1 or day 2.
