David van Wyk, completed his MSc in Mechanical Engineering entitled Guidance, Navigation & Control of a Small, Unmanned Blended Wing Body Aircraft at the University of Cape Town in 2019 with distinction, while working full time in the Aerospace industry. With his passion for control systems design and algorithm development, David worked as an Avionics and Control Engineer at a local Aerospace company before moving into the realm of software engineering with AutonoSky, where he is now the Head of Engineering in their Exponential Technology division. The purpose of this was to quickly and efficiently measure whether students understood the theory for designing a passive filter, before moving into the lab to build a physical passive filter. These assignments enabled a more efficient workflow as the lecturer could track her students’ understanding and application of theory.
